How to run the PhotoPills Photography app on a PC and Mac
2min Read
PhotoPills is the go-to photography app for planning and shooting, the only downside is that it’s only phone app which means when I’m planning a trip which is usually done on the computer It’s a bit of a pain to switch between the two. That and it’s on such a small screen.
Here’s a how-to for getting PhotoPills running on a computer.

- Go to www.bluestacks.com & download.
Bluestacks is an android emulator aimed at mobile gamers who want to use their computer instead, in this case we’re using it to run android on a computer & as an extension PhotoPills.

2. Open the app & click the Google Play Store App
Once you’ve opened the program it looks like a weird version of a tablet device that uses tabs once a program is open, no fear! you’ll nearly there

3. Download Photopills & Open the app

4. That’s it!
Once you’re inside the program you can do exactly what you can on a mobile except the screen is much much bigger. To making planning practical I’d suggest syncing whatever plans you create with Dropbox or Google Drive
A side note
I reached out to Photopills and it seems like they’ve got some big things in the works with a desktop (Mac & PC) coming sometime in the future..until then you’ve got this guide!
